Top 5: Light Beers
Sometimes my Friday Faves center around one topic but are usually just various faves of the moment. So in honor of Rob Gordon I have decided to start a new category of specific posts that center on all times faves...my Top 5's.
This week's entry is dedicated to light beers. Yes, even a beer knurd like myself needs to have a "go to" light beer. Especially when your mug in a beer club is 20oz.
1. Yuengling Light Lager: the light version of the classic PA amber lager from America's oldest brewery (since 1829). And only 99 calories.
2. Lionshead Light: another classic from PA...this one from Wilkes-Barre. This light version of their deluxe pilsner clocks in at 120 calories.
3. Sam Adams Light: I loved this before the traditional Sam Adams Boston Lager. Probably the best tasting light beer there is. 124 calories.
4. Karl Strauss Endless Summer Light: A perfect California summer beer. And only 110 calories.
5. Schell's Original Light: from New Ulm, Minnesota the home of America's 2nd oldest brewery (since 1860). 100 calories.
Everything in TX is big...except this..but I can't list it in my top 5 because I've never had it. But I do love a lot of the beers from Spoetzl Brewery. Shiner Light Blonde: Only 99 calories.
Your Pet Business Needs Help
Not sure why...but twice now I have seen HORRIBLE logos/names for pet businesses in Franklin, TN. Somebody please help them.
The first: Treasured Petz. I submitted this to Your Logo Makes Me Barf in October. They were kind enough to post it.
That Z really gives it that personal touch. The gangsta touch.
The second. Pawty Time.
Is that dog dancing or does it need to go to the bathroom?
Friday Faves
Here's my favorite summer brews this year.
New Belgium: Somersault Ale - This is my summer brew of 2011. It's also the the first year of it, just released in May, as it replaces the Skinny Dip (the other New Belgium summer seasonal). You can taste some slight apricot with a touch of ginger. Very refreshing.
Left Hand Brewing: Good JuJu - A refreshing spiced ale with a splash of ginger.
Brooklyn Summer Ale - "Refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy"
Saranac Summer Ale - Hints of lemon.
Samuel Adams: Summer Ale - Watch out...this one is 162 calories.
