Friday Faves
Fall is here. Football season has begun. Specifically Penn State football. Here are some of my favorites for this year.
#1: I finally got my 1st PSU jersey. Thanks to JoePA for making Robert Bolden our starting QB because I didn't grab 1 a few years ago when Justin King was playing.
Jay Paterno on Twitter: The coach's son and our QB coach. He posts some great pics and updates from events, practices, etc.
Nashville Penn Staters: Not sure why I didn't start watching the games with these folks when I first moved to Nashville. But starting this season it's been great to watch the games with other Alumni. Including some of Nashville's weathermen.
1986 National Champions: Do you remember? Miami showing up in Amy fatigues and Vinny throwing a bunch of interceptions.
Yuengling: Not just a favorite of this year. It's my ultimate favorite draft and it's the only thing I drink when watching PSU. Only wish I could get my hands on some Hartley's Potato Chips as well.
Friday Faves
We are Nashville: Inspired by this blog from a Nashville Predator cellblock 303 member after the damaging floods that hit Nashville, Franklin, and other areas the first weekend of May.
LOST Dharma campfire mug: My new way to enjoy my morning cup of coffee. And while I'm on this topic. Copco Eco-First Sierra Tumbler: My new way to enjoy my morning iced coffee. Just doing my part to save .10 at Starbucks. That plus being a Gold member adds to the overall savings.
Deftones "Diamond Eyes": So glad to hear these guys again. It's been 4 years since the last album. And songs like the title track and "Rocket Skates" do not disappoint.
Vans La Costa: I loved my black pair so much last year I went for the checkerboard this summer.
Hands on Nashville: The best organization to support the flood relief in Nashville. Your financial support here will go directly to people in need. Not to sound mean, but don't give to the Red Cross, give to Hands on Nashville.

This Friday Faves is dedicated to my recent 30 New Beers In 30 Days challenge. Here are 5 beers, in no particular order, that I tried for the first time that I really loved.
Shiner Bohemian Black Lager: From Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, TX.
Yazoo Sly Rye Porter: The best porter I've had to date.
Yazoo Sue: Catch the reference to the Man In Black? It's 9% abv makes it available only at wine & liquor store for bottles. Only 100 cases were bottled in December 2009.
Yuengling Bock Beer: A celebratory beer for Yuengling's 180th anniversary last year finally made it to bottles this year.
Friday Faves
Johnny Cash "American VI: Ain't No Grave": The last posthumous release of "new" material from the Man In Black.
33 Bottles of Beer Journal: Perfect for my 30 in 30 challenge next month. Thanks to Uncrate for the tip and if you decide to buy 'em go to ScoutBooks.com where they are 3 for $12 with no shipping costs.
Madden NFL Arcade for the PS3: 60 yard field. 5 on 5. 4 downs to score. No special teams. No penalties. The online playability allows me to play my brother in PA even though he kicks my ass.
Vans Era black, white, green flash: My first pair of Eras. Plus a great sale price from Nashville Clothing Company.
Gungor "Beautiful Things": A truly amazing worship album.
PS: Today would have been Johnny Cash's 78th birthday...I only wish I could have met him.
Friday Faves
On The Byas: Surprisingly it's from Pac-Sun. And with a recent sale of 50% off the lowest price you really can't beat it. Thanks to my brother for the tip.
Facebook.com/iTunes: More FREE music if you become a fan of iTunes on Facebook. This time it's a 20 song "Artists to Watch" sampler. It's the 9th sampler I've downloaded. Stop sleeping on this opportunity for new music that's free.
Answers?!: A great LOST parody.
The Smashing Pumpkins "Teargarden": So far the first 2 tracks are great and what's even better is that they are free. I just hope Corgan starts offering them quicker so it doesn't take till 2014 to have the entire 44 song collection.
Dispatches from the Island: Jorge Garcia's blog (Hurley from LOST).
