Top 5: Light Beers

Sometimes my Friday Faves center around one topic but are usually just various faves of the moment. So in honor of Rob Gordon I have decided to start a new category of specific posts that center on all times faves...my Top 5's.

This week's entry is dedicated to light beers. Yes, even a beer knurd like myself needs to have a "go to" light beer. Especially when your mug in a beer club is 20oz.

1. Yuengling Light Lager: the light version of the classic PA amber lager from America's oldest brewery (since 1829). And only 99 calories.

2. Lionshead Light: another classic from PA...this one from Wilkes-Barre. This light version of their deluxe pilsner clocks in at 120 calories.

3. Sam Adams Light: I loved this before the traditional Sam Adams Boston Lager. Probably the best tasting light beer there is. 124 calories.

4. Karl Strauss Endless Summer Light: A perfect California summer beer. And only 110 calories.

5. Schell's Original Light: from New Ulm, Minnesota the home of America's 2nd oldest brewery (since 1860). 100 calories.

Everything in TX is big...except this..but I can't list it in my top 5 because I've never had it. But I do love a lot of the beers from Spoetzl Brewery. Shiner Light Blonde: Only 99 calories.

  1. yup yuengling light is my fave too… you sir have good taste ;)

  2. I will second Yuengling. I SO wish it was sold around me so I didn’t have to drive to get it all the time. I think I agree with your list more than I agree with this one: http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-best-tasting-light-beers I came across that first and was surprised that it didn’t have Yuengling. The “crowd” must not be close to PA. Someone should help.
