Friday Faves
30th Anniversary Editions: I finally picked up the box set versions of "Born to Run" & "The Stranger". Classic. Educational. Killer.
@360fromTheEdge: Follow him on Twitter and you'll see pics from the tour like this, this and this.
Facebook.com/iTunes: More FREE music if you become a fan of iTunes on Facebook.com. This time it's a 15 track Lollapalooza sampler.
Them Crooked Vultures: I can't wait to hear this album. Plus I love the marketing campaign of just using logos from their "other" bands and giving us video teasers with no vocals and using footage from the studio to hear the music. Bad ass.
iTunes.com/Backspacer: Download a 'making of' short film for Pearl Jam's new album "Backspacer" for FREE but only available till September 8. Go get it now.
Wow. This Friday Faves was all music related.
The Definition of a Playa
I love me some Jason Whitlock. I feel my response to most of his writing is usually "that's right, preach it". Case in point: Rick Pitino. The man cheated on his wife and yesterday played the victim. Here's a portion of what Jason had to say about it.
When a playa gets busted, he/she changes the discussion from what he did wrong to something someone else did wrong and is more than likely untrue or exaggerated. A playa creates a false reality and then expects you to hold a debate about the lie he just concocted.
So true. And I know because I saw the exact same response from my ex.
I know it's been a while since I've written anything but what I went through 2 years ago but it's because I have moved on. But that doesn't mean that when I hear things like this there isn't a part of me that doesn't get a little pissed. It still just blows my mind how people that cheat in their marriages always divert the focus off of themselves and enter a false reality of lies and exaggeration. There's an acceptance of the wrong doing when either convicted or caught but for some reason that acceptance quickly moves to diversion.
Anyways, I know we are all one step away but I pray I never become that which had hurt me so deeply.
Friday Faves
District 9: A bad ass film that's fresh and different.
Three Sheets: I'm so glad Zane & co. are back. If you like to enjoy a tasty beverage and you're not watching you should be.
Facebook.com/iTunes: Another FREE 20 song Indie Spotlight sampler.
Hulu desktop: It's how I watch Three Sheets.
Conversations with Tom Petty: Amazing insight into one of America's greatest songwriters. I can't stop reading it.
2 Tuesday Tunes: Who’s Your Daddy? by Mook N Fair / Beggin’ by Madcon
Thanks to my brother for the tip on Mook N Fair.
