March Madness

Today was a good day. March Madness started. I stopped by Gotee to see how the final four were. Grabbed coffee (a killer Caramel Butter flavor) at Merridee’s with Sara and Condo. Had a really cool convo with Sara. Stopped by Toby’s studio and got some hang time with Gabe. I love that dude. Funniest guy I know. I then ended up joining some pick up 3-on-3 basketball on Toby’s new home court with Steve Gee, Dan Pits, Dave Mullen, Toby’s nephew and of course T-Mac himself. I felt alive playing. Though I seemed to be a solid second slow on defense, rebounding, and passing. But I did end up finding my shot after the first game. It just felt good to be doing something physical and specifically playing basketball. Whenever I was going through junk when I was younger I always had the hoop in our driveway to take it out on. I also got to see Todd Collins (who had some nice words about my shooting) and Chad Hines as well. Oh yeah, Toby & the fam have a killer labradoodle. I then headed over to JR’s studio to watch LOST. It was a great episode. Bummer that there won’t be another new episode for a month, but at least it’s coming back and I’m not stuck with only 8 episodes of this new season. I then got confirmation that a very important meeting is set for Friday next week. I could use all of your prayers as I will need His strength, His eyes, and His love for it. In one way, it could be the end of one aspect of the crisis in my life. And lastly, got the final word that Monday will be first day back in the work force. I will be joining Zambooie.com and working with good friends Bruce Fitzhugh and Bill Power. I am excited and scared at the same time about this new chapter.  I am thankful beyond words for the opportunity. Looks like I only lost 4 games today in MM after day one so I’m 12 for 16.

In all, it was a good day.

Oh yeah, I had a great time with Maj yesterday. That guy has such a gentle spirit. He encouraged me in a way that I desperately needed. Especially from someone who is not close to my situation and only has to go off of how he has seen me respond. Some of the words he used to describe my response in order to encourage me was extremely uplifting because of how he said it, the words and analogies he used, and how he said my response has encouraged him. I only wish my beloved and a few others felt the same way. I know I have made mistakes throughout this season but I really have tried my hardest to do the right thing in all situations. I just want to please Him.

Rainy day at Pan(T)era Bread

I had a late night with my bros in The Showdown. Dinner at Genghis Grill. Coffee at Starbucks. Heard some pre-pro of the new tunes at the studio. Late night snacks at Piranhas. Beers and Guitar Hero at Bar 23 while N.E.R.D. played next door. Despite the late turn in I was up early today.

I love my time with this guy every week.

I can’t stop listening to the independent solo album by Nathan Horst so please go check him out here

I’m working on my March Madness picks to compete in the Gotee pool. UNC all the way. My first year in it I won but not everyone paid up so I didn’t get the entire winnings I should have which was a nice amount.

Meeting up with Maj at Smokes & Brews later today.

Not sure what the night holds. Maybe more bro time with The Showdown, hang time at JR’s, or watch some new movies I downloaded.

Habakkuk 2:3

For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end--it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Habakkuk 2:3

That is my daily verse for today and it couldn’t be more fitting. On Friday last week I finally got a job offer and as of right now we are very close to it being finalized. More than likely I will be starting Monday in the next “work” chapter of my ife. I’m not sure why God has had me waiting for so long, why I have applied at so many jobs and got rejected, and why I have had to be tested and broken financially for so long. But I do know He has a purpose for the short-term and long-term of my life. I have to trust in that because without trusting in Him I can not survive this season of my life. So today I am thankful beyond words for a God who is carrying me and watching over me. I am thankful for those who have helped and supported me in so many ways through this hell. I pray I continue to have the strength that is needed and that I constantly do what is right in His eyes.

Back in TN

I had a great time in PA. My bro and his wife are amazing and so are their pooches. I flew back to TN last night. Got stuck in Cincy on the way for an extra hour. Watched a free episode of the season premiere of Ax Men on the flight. Eddy picked me up and we each grabbed a Guinness and a few Harp Lagers since it was St. Patty’s. Came home to a house with no electricity. You can’t see it but I have a middle finger up to Middle TN Electric. Apparently you only have 10 days to pay after the due date before they turn off your power and since the home number they had for me was no longer in service I had no clue. Who turns off the power after just being late 10 days? Ass-holes. And it was more of a bummer because I had just bought a bunch of food before I Ieft for PA and it all went bad. I got a stack of bills to pay and no power. Anyways, The Showdown are in town recording their new album so I’m gonna get with those bros today. Later.

Smarter than a 4th grader

I went back to school today...back to 4th grade. My sister in-law Samantha is a 4th grade teacher at a school in Harrisburg.  So this afternoon I went in and helped her out. As soon as I walked in I started helping a girl with a math assignment, which was probably something I should not have done. It took me a while to remember perimeter and area. So I’m pretty sure there are some 4th graders smarter than me when it comes to math. I was then introduced as the “other” Mr. Moist. I then re-worked some of her bulletin boards about classroom behavior. I even got to walk the kids out for a fire drill, do you remember those?  I finished the day off by reading them some short stories, one of which was called The Stinky Cheese Man. In all it was a lot of fun but I don’t know how Sam does it. She’s great with the kids and has an amazing sense of how to communicate and to them at that age.

Tonite we grabbed dinner and drinks at the new Lancaster Brewing Company that opened up in H-burg. Their mirco-brew sampler is really good and includes beers called Strawberry Wheat, Amish Four Grain, Milk Stout, and the Hop Hog. Brandon and Sam then went to go see Horton Hears A Who while Greg King and I went and saw The Bank Job. Tomorrow is the official celebration of Sam’s birthday and the plans are for Hibachi in Hollywood...I’ll explain in the next post...
