Tuesday Tune: How You Like Me Now by The Heavy
Posted by bradmoistdotcom | Filed under Tuesday Tune
Their last album made my Top 10 of 2008 and surprisingly I didn’t even know they released a new album in October of last year until I saw the new Kia commercial on the Super Bowl (if you pay attention you’ll see their new album cover).
Anyways, this band is SICK. Their last album is great and so is the new album. Plus no matter how many times I see that new Kia commercial I love watching it. Perfect song placement.

Johnny Cash “American VI: Ain’t No Grave”: The last posthumous release of “new” material from the Man In Black.
33 Bottles of Beer Journal: Perfect for my 30 in 30 challenge next month. Thanks to Uncrate for the tip and if you decide to buy ‘em go to ScoutBooks.com where they are 3 for $12 with no shipping costs.
Madden NFL Arcade for the PS3: 60 yard field. 5 on 5. 4 downs to score. No special teams. No penalties. The online playability allows me to play my brother in PA even though he kicks my ass.
Vans Era black, white, green flash: My first pair of Eras. Plus a great sale price from Nashville Clothing Company.
Gungor “Beautiful Things”: A truly amazing worship album.
PS: Today would have been Johnny Cash’s 78th birthday…I only wish I could have met him.
Tuesday Tune: Close Your Eyes by Abandon Kansas
Posted by bradmoistdotcom | Filed under Tuesday Tune
I try not to pimp out bands I work with too much from my site or from my Twitter account unlike so many of my friends in the biz. But when it comes to Abandon Kansas I have to spread the word when I can because I am extremely proud to be working with these guys and I feel their music and work goes unnoticed.
As I wrote in back in July I’m glad I could have my friends Mark Lee Townsend, JR McNeely, Ethan Luck, and Eddy Boer help me create an EP that sounded and looked amazing. So when the time came to shoot a video I was excited that I could reach out to Nathan Corrona again and ask him to direct a video for their song “Close Your Eyes”. My only direction was to have some or all of the video in black & white to keep the marketing consistent with that of the EP cover. The above video is the result and I am extremely proud of it. Ok, time to get off my soapbox.
30 Beers In 30 Days
Posted by bradmoistdotcom | Filed under 30 Beers In 30 Days
Yes you read that right.
Since my Christmas vacation I’ve been thinking of something I could do for 30 days that required trying something new every day. As well as find a topic to write about on my website. So thus the “30 new beers in 30 days” challenge was born.
Without even knowing what I had been thinking about Sara bought me the 300 Beers to Try Before You Die book as a birthday present. So that was even more confirmation.
To give a little bit more background into this just know that I’m the guy who when in a town for the first time has to find the place locals eat at. And if I’m lucky to find a brewery in that town I almost always get the sampler. Even though by some standards I’m a picky eater I do like to try new things and unfortunately as the years pass I can’t remember all of them. So this will be a way to remember as they stay cataloged on my site.
I’m still working on how I will “review” the beers. I’m not extremely knowledgeable on beer terminology and why beers taste the way they do. Though I do know I don’t like beers with a lot of hops like India Pale Ales as well as the Back Street Brewery “Slow Ride” which was tasted like vinegar and was the worse beer I have ever had. So we’ll see what I come up with. Maybe just something as simple as “killer” and “buzz-kill”.
The plan is to go to Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, World Market, and Stogie’s in the next few weeks and create my own 6-packs so I’m all stocked up. So if you have any suggestions, please let me know. Also, I think my friend Eddy is going to join me in this challenge and try the same beer each day so we can compare our tasting.
So…starting on March 1st I will try 1 new beer a day.
PS: Here’s to hoping I don’t get sick at all in March because I only have 1 free day AND that I decide to either start working out again or cut certain foods from my meals to counter the calories I’ll be consuming from the beer.

On The Byas: Surprisingly it’s from Pac-Sun. And with a recent sale of 50% off the lowest price you really can’t beat it. Thanks to my brother for the tip.
Facebook.com/iTunes: More FREE music if you become a fan of iTunes on Facebook. This time it’s a 20 song “Artists to Watch” sampler. It’s the 9th sampler I’ve downloaded. Stop sleeping on this opportunity for new music that’s free.
Answers?!: A great LOST parody.
The Smashing Pumpkins “Teargarden”: So far the first 2 tracks are great and what’s even better is that they are free. I just hope Corgan starts offering them quicker so it doesn’t take till 2014 to have the entire 44 song collection.
Dispatches from the Island: Jorge Garcia’s blog (Hurley from LOST).

A Change Is Coming

When I look back on the past 2 1/2 years a lot has happened to me. In hindsight I can break it down like this.
I view half of 2007 and half of 2008 as a time of being torn down to almost nothing while trying to stay alive financially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually through it all. I saw the worst life had to offer but through it all I also saw some of the best it had to offer.
The remaining half of 2008 I view as a time I was able to build a new confidence and see things becoming restored to my life.
2009 was a year where I felt my life became completely enjoyable again. I was in a great relationship. I had a job that I loved. Finances were not a stress. I saw my family grow. I took many trips, experienced a lot of what life had to offer, and most of it for the first time. I was blessed. But with all those great things there was a downside. In some ways I became comfortable again. And with that comfort came many challenges…and regrettably I know I did not succeed at all of them.
I feel 2010 will be a year of change for me. The year has just started and I can feel it. Perhaps all for the good, but maybe for bad…but only at first. I’m not sure where exactly but I feel it coming. And with that change will come more challenges. I pray this year I handle challenges differently. I pray I don’t allow blessings to make me too comfortable. I pray I don’t allow fear to slip in. I pray I am ready.

Love it. I also like the other shot. And yes, the excitement is building every day for the final season premiere (that happens on my birthday and as long as President Obama’s State of the Union isn’t that day). Have you seen my new Twitter icon?
